Dilum Aluthge

Computational Molecular Biology Graduate Program

Biography

Dilum is currently an M.D./Ph.D. student at Brown. His research interests include learning health systems, electronic health records, health information exchange, clinical decision support, standards and interoperability, machine learning, knowledge discovery, and physiologic reserve. Dilum received his Ph.D. in biomedical informatics and computational biology in May 2024, under the mentorship of Neil Sarkar and Liz Chen. His doctoral dissertation was titled "Physiologic Reserve and Modular Learning Health Systems." During his Ph.D. studies, he was awarded the Julia Community Prize for his contributions to community infrastructure and community building in the Julia Programming Language project. He received his Bachelor of Science in applied mathematics from Brown University; he graduated magna cum laude, and he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He also received the Rohn Truell Prize for special distinction in applied mathematics, awarded by Brown's Division of Applied Mathematics.
