Biography

Adam Friedberg is a Neuroscience MD-PhD candidate working in Dr. Anne Hart's laboratory which uses C. elegans to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration and neurogenetic disorders. His work focuses on identifying conserved G-protein function in sleep by demonstrating functional rescue across C. elegans behavior. Adam aims to fully replace nematode genes with their human equivalent, knock human variants which may cause insomnia into C. elegans with CRISPR-Cas9, and characterize where gene function is required for C. elegans sleep through single neuron knockdown experiments. Moving forward, Adam will combine insights from molecular biology with clinical experience to develop novel therapeutic options for patients with genetic disorders.
